Everything wrong about a picture

This is a shot I took yesterday of Joss Bay near Margate. I'm sharing this photograph because of the frustration yesterday brought with it. The weather was changeable to say the least; if snow had started tumbling from the skies I'd have accepted it.
This picture presents all the failings of landscape which refuses to fall into line: fast-moving sunshine racing across the shot, messy sand, uneven and unbalanced clouds, uneven sky tones, the list goes on.
The point with this upload is to show that sometimes everything's going to go against you and there's not a thing you can do to avoid it. Best to shrug your shoulders and try something different.

I think this location has so much more to offer though. Keen documentary pappers will love the candid portrait opportunities of the surf school and shop. Those interested in graphics will love the flags, signs and lines of perspective to be found all mixed up together. Fans of textures will relish the soft sand, pebbles and concrete on show, not to mention the fabulous cliffs.
It's a wonderful place, Joss Bay. Well worth a visit. I think for best results though, get there early while the sand is still fresh.

Disused notice board

Not that you could really hang a substantial notice from here, but the causeway marking poles at Oare help mark out the gentle twist of the road to recovery and dry land if you're landing your vessel in the midpoint of a tidal shift.

My ride at the weekend

I finally made it to Silverstone to cash in the birthday present I'd been bought in July 2010, um, in July 2011. However, I couldn't have wished for a better day! The car in question was a 390bhp Aston Martin V8 Vantage; a rather hefty old hectar and a car in which the thought of chucking yourself about on a racetrack doesn't rate that highly. In reality though it was a riot!
Yes it felt heavy on the turn in, but even in amongst the blips and squirts of traction control it felt alive through each apex and utterly relentless down the straights!

Peaceful Seasalter with the tide out - an absolute animal when it's in

Driving home from Whitstable we stopped off to take a gander at the seashore from Seasalter. It's a real secret treat after the bustle of a seasonal town; an amble along the stones early evening confronted by nothing but peace, tranquility and the welcome absence of tourism.

The Mini Clan spotted near Little Langdale!

I recently went for a walkabout with friends in the Lake District. I had the foolish notion of taking some glorious landscape photographs. Fat chance; it didn't stop raining the whole weekend. Anyway, on return from  the Three Shires Inn in Little Langdale we were greeted by three or four beautifully restored and fully loaded Minis wearing The Mini Clan banners - the last of the pack to pass us by blaring a proper good Dukes of Hazzard-style horn!
It brought smiles to our wet and weary selves as we trudged on back to camp.

Bake Club

I'm breaking the first, second and third rules about Bake Club by talking about it. Anyway, baking helps soothe a ragged soul when the weather turns in and gloom decends outside. As you can see I need a load of practice but I'm hoping this little loaf will taste just right.

Flora in Faversham

Thankfully the rains appear to have passed and Faversham town is once again bathed in sunshine. This rose was the jewel in a private garden close to the home of The Faversham Society. The sunlight appears to be emitting straight from its core - a variation on the Iron Man theme? Downey Jr look out.

Faversham Creek

Not Jonathan Creek, Faversham Creek. A beautiful walk which takes in the northern coastal area of Faversham, looking out across flat lowlands, the meandering creek and off in the distance the Isle of Sheppey.
This photograph shows Faversham's representation of the UK's water shortage problems, in a sympathetic kind of way.
